Full Time Staff Bios



Brad Bryan, a licensed minister and native of Hugoton, Kansas, is the Executive Director of City Impact. Brad and his family live in the target neighborhood helping them to better understand and respond to the needs and encourage the strengths of their neighbors and neighborhood. Brad graduated from the University of Nebraska with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration. In 1992 he began working at Peed Corporation (now Sandhills Publishing) as a marketing representative while being a graduate assistant at UNL as well. The summer of 1993 is when Brad and three others (Carma, one of them – his future bride) began ministering in Lincoln’s Malone neighborhood. Brad went on to become an Advertising Sales Representative for a computer publication at Peed while ministering to the youth in the community. He married Carma in October of 1994. In 1996 Brad and Carma left the business world to become urban missionaries while beginning the ministry of City Impact. In January of 1997 Brad became the Executive Director for City Impact and Carma followed in June to become City Impact’s Administrative Assistant. Brad is a member of downtown Rotary 14, the Chamber of Commerce, member of the National Christian Community Development Association, a 2004-2005 Leadership Lincoln participant, and is active in the community serving youth and families. Brad and Carma have been married for 14 years; they have two children.



Mike Friend, a native of Chicago, joined the staff of City Impact in August of 2002 to help with resources as Development Director. Prior to joining the team at City Impact, Mike had been the Assistant Director for four years at the Edgerton Explorit Center, Nebraska’s Hands-On Science Center in Aurora Nebraska where he was in charge of resource development, public relations and grant writing. Mike completed a battery of courses and received a Certificate in Fundraising Management from the highly regarded Philanthropy School at Indiana University. Mike is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Christian Stewardship Association, BNI and LIBA (Lincoln Independent Business Association) youth committee. He was also a member of the 2005-2006 Leadership Lincoln class. Mike’s wife is a City Impact volunteer mentor and they have four children.

Todd Bowman, a Lincoln native, joined the staff of City Impact in December 2005. He serves as the Education Director for our new IMPACT Learning Center --a strengths based after school program for at-risk urban youth. Todd was a Middle School teacher at King Science and Technology Magnet in Omaha for the last six years and has also taught in the Chicago area, focusing on Language Art. Todd's heart for urban ministry really took off after a three month internship with KingdomWorks (now CompassionWorks) in Philadelphia in 1996. Todd enjoys Nebraska football and basketball, but his greatest enjoyment comes from spending time with his wife and three daughters.

Jo Sheets, a lifelong Nebraskan, has been a valuable twenty-year employee and team leader in a variety of departments at Nationwide-Allied Insurance Company. Jo brings a rare enthusiasm, vast business and volunteer experience to her new work at City Impact. Jo’s lay leadership at her church and volunteer coordination for “Clinic with a Heart” speaks volumes of her unwavering commitment to help people.

 

Ashley Larson, a native Nebraskan and graduate with honors from Nebraska-Wesleyan with a bachelor’s degree in social work, brings ample experience working in urban ministry settings in New Orleans and Lincoln. She offers an unusual passion, calling and teambuilding focus to maximize the inside-out transformation of lives through strengths-based spiritual programs and relationships at City Impact.

Andrea Frank, a lifelong Lincoln native, joined the team as full-time Administrative Assistant in February 2003 to assist in the development of City Impact’s mission. Her duties include, but are not limited to: Inter-office communications, public communications, program coordination, bookkeeping, fundraising assistance and summer program leadership. Prior to joining the team at City Impact, Andrea was a student at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, receiving a degree in Communication Studies and Chicano Studies. She invested a summer working with youth through Here’s Life Inner City in Louisville, KY after graduating from UNL. Andrea lives in one of City Impact’s targeted urban neighborhoods.
